Less Tricks, More Treats.

Halloween is a special time for kids (of all ages), but as fun as it can be, it can also
be a dangerous time for trick-or-treaters.

If your child will be heading out this Halloween, here are a few safety tips that
can make their journey safer:

Ditch costumes that drag.
Avoid flowing or draping garments that can get caught, walked on, or tripped over. Costumes that fit like normal clothing are typically more comfortable and safe for trick-or-treat.

Don’t mask that smiling face.
Keep masks small and be sure they don’t obstruct vision.Or, leave the mask at home and opt for face paint. Just be sure to avoid the area right around the eyes.

Keep your eye out for witches, ghosts, and other ghouls.
Don’t let young kids go trick-or-treating without an adult. It may be okay for teens,
and even responsible preteens, to go in groups of friends, but younger kids need to be
supervised by an adult.

Don’t scare away safety.
Review traffic safety with your little ones before hitting the streets. If you’re planning
on driving during trick-or-treat night, a quick refresher may be relevant for you as well!

Save the real treats for home.
Carry some pre-packed snacks to encourage children not to munch on treats which
haven’t been inspected by an adult.Although studies show actual tampering of candy
rarely occurs, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
